Today is the first of two tribute shows to departed Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. Today’s show according to the band’s website was to and i quote ‘celebrate the life, music and love of their husband, father, brother and bandmate.’ Incase you guys missed it i did a whole video on the life of taylor hawkins this morning, the link is down below. The concert was streamed on Paramount+ in the US and Pluto TV internationally. and I’m sure it’ll show up on youtube as well in due time. Saluting Hawkins was a whose who of both his personal musician friends and former bandmates including Alanis Morissette, Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson, Miley Cyrus, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Oasis’ Liam Gallagher, Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic, AC/DC’s Brian Johnson, Wolfgang Van Halen, Hawkins’ son, Shane , and many more. The supergroup Them Crooked Vultures reunited to perform their first set in 12 years. Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet Grohl performed doing a couple of Jeff Buckley covers. James Gang who was one of taylor’s favourite bands would reform. The Police’s Stewart Copeland who was one of Taylor’s favourite drummers n would joi the Foo’s and do a Police covers as did Rush and the members of Queen. \ Foo Fighters would end the night with a 2 hour set that saw the band kick off the show with ‘Times Like These.’ The band would have a variety of drummer fill in during their set. They started off their performance with Josh Freese playing Times Like These u0026 All My Life.. Dave introduced Travis Barker of Blink 182. Grohl told a story about how Hawkins met Travis Barker when he was a garbage man in his neighbourhood before he was famous. Barker would perform The Pretender with the band. Then Rufus, Roger Taylor’s son came on and performed a few songs including best of you. Next dave welcomed chrissie hynde and paul mccartney performed the beatles tune ‘Oh Darling’ and helter skelter. My personal favourite the band performed ‘Aurora’ from there third album. The band performed MY hero with Taylor’s son and Dave concluded the show with Everlong. A second tribute concert will take place at the Kia forum in Los Angeles on Sept. 27. Hawkins would join Foo Fighters in 1997 after original drummer William goldsmith left the band over creative differences with Dave Grohl during the making of their second album ‘The Colour and the Shape.’ I’ve done a whole vidoe on their feud the link is down below. Hawkins had previously played with Sass Jordan and Alanis Morissette and would meet Grohl in late 1995 during a festival both Morisette and Foo’s were playing and instantly hit it off.
