Shonka Dukureh, 'Elvis' Actress And Singer, Found Dead At 44

Shonka Dukureh, who played Big Mama Thorton in Baz Luhrmann"s Elvis, was found dead in her Nashville apartment, according to police. She was 44 years old. Nashville police say no foul play is suspected, but they are still waiting on her autopsy results from the Davidson County Medical Examiner"s Office for the official cause of death.
