Four decades ago, Norman Lear saw a nightmare on the horizon: rising authoritarianism, heralded by heralded by far-right clergy who were building power to impose their radical worldview on the rest of us. The World War 2 veteran had a vision: to build a movement of allies to fight against authoritarianism and for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. And since our founding in 1980, People For the American Way has fought for those ideals, and mobilized the voices of our movement and our one million members.
