Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to retire Thursday

Justice Stephen Breyer has announced he will imminently be retiring from the Supreme Court in a letter to President Joe Biden. His retirement is effective Thursday, local time, at noon. In the letter, Justice Breyer expressed his “great honour” serving and maintaining the Constitution and rule of law. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, who was confirmed by the Senate in April in a 53-47 vote, will be sworn in the same day.
