This afternoon and evening will feature the first of two rounds of strong-to-severe storms before the weekend arrives. The primary threats are damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and heavy rain leading to localized flooding. A Flood Watch is in place for Avery, Burke, and Caldwell counties through Friday morning.
