Jif peanut butter products have been recalled


A multistate salmonella incident is being investigated by health officials, who suspect it is linked to some Jif peanut butter brands. An epidemic of Salmonella Senftenberg is being investigated by the Food and Drug Administration, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other state and local health organizations, according to an announcement. According to the Food and Drug Administration, the J. M. Smucker Co. is recalling many of its Jif peanut butter products made at a plant in Lexington, Kentucky, due to suspected contamination. The present strain has been linked to the plant, according to the announcement, based on a study of a 2010 environmental sample.
