It will be released internationally on June 23, 2022 as part of the 30th anniversary of the Sonic brand, with versions coming to all the latest platforms. According to Takashi Iizuka, similar to Sonic Colors: Ultimate, Sonic Origins was created for new fans of the Sonic the Hedgehog series after the success of recent games and the Sonic the Hedgehog movie who wanted to know about Sonic"s origins.
