LIVE UPDATES: Winter Olympics: Mikaela Shiffrin trains for downhill amid Olympic disappointmentAmerican alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin is preparing for the chance to compete in the women"s downhill event on Tuesday after disappointing performances in the women’s slalom and giant slalom â€" her two best events. “Well, guess I better hang on tight to the coaster cause we have plenty still to come,” she wrote in a post on Twitter. “First (downhill) training starts tomorrow! Sending my love to those who are feeling that striking hurt of defeat… only let it beat you down for a little bit, and then you have to stand up again and throw a few punches back.” Shiffrin will have three days of training before deciding to enter the event on Tuesday.
