Three more teams added playoff berths in the early window of games Sunday, with more to come. #UpdatedNFL #playoffpicture #Rams #Buccaneers #Cardinals #joinCowboys #Packersplayoff #field Already this week, the Cowboys have clinched a playoff spot without leaving the couch. Can they add an NFC East crown on Sunday night? And when will the first AFC team seal a berth? What teams are playing their way in and which ones are playing their way out? Austin Mock has updated projections to make the playoffs entering Week 16, The Athletic has clinching scenarios for Week 16, and hereâs how the overall NFL playoff picture looks midday Sunday: AFC Playoff Picture SEED TEAM RECORD WEEK 16 RESULT 1 Chiefs 10-4 vs. PIT 2 Titans 10-5 W vs. SF 3 Bengals 9-6 W vs. BAL 4 Bills 9-6 W at NE 5 Colts 9-6 W at AZ 6 Patriots 9-6 L vs. BUF 7 Steelers 7-6-1 at KC Chiefs Kansas City is peaking at the right time and has plenty of playoff experience on its roster. Even if these Chiefs arenât as dominant as past Kansas City teams, theyâre playing in a conference without a clear-cut front-runner. The Chiefs can clinch the AFC West by beating the Steelers today, and they clinch a playoff berth with a win or tie. Remaining schedule: vs. PIT, at CIN, at DEN Titans Tennessee had lost three of its previous four games before a big home win against San Francisco on Thursday night. That victory was a huge boost to the Titansâ playoff standing, and they sit at No. 2 in the AFC. Closing out the season against the Texans in Houston should give the Titans at least one more win, but they lost to the Texans earlier this season. Remaining schedule: vs. MIA, at HOU Bengals A rout of the Ravens and season sweep has inched Cincinnati closer to an AFC North crown, but thereâs still work to do, with a challenging pair of games to close the regular season. Cincinnati has the edge on Buffalo because of its superior record in conference games. Remaining schedule: vs. KC, at CLE Bills The Billsâ victory at New England had a profound impact on the AFC East. It gave them the division lead and pushed their division record to 4-1 compared to New Englandâs 3-2. And that remaining schedule isnât the most foreboding. Remaining schedule: vs. ATL, vs. NYJ Colts Indy has won eight of its past 10, with its only losses in that stretch coming in one-score games. Losing twice to the Titans (10-5) essentially puts the Colts two games back in the AFC South standings because Tennessee holds the head-to-head tiebreaker. The Colts may have a hard time overtaking Tennessee for the NFC South crown, but their 22-16 win Saturday night at Arizona put them in a great spot with two weeks to go. And their head-to-head win vs. New England puts them ahead of the Patriots. Remaining schedule: vs. LV, at JAX Patriots The Patriots missed a chance to win the AFC East by losing at home to Buffalo on Sunday. They remain in solid wild-card contention, but their margin for error and chances for a home playoff game were both reduced. Remaining schedule: vs. JAX, at MIA Steelers Pittsburgh edges into the final wild-card berth by virtue of the Ravensâ loss. But how long will they stay there? They visit the AFC-leading Chiefs on Sunday afternoon. Remaining schedule: at KC, vs. CLE, at BAL In the hunt Ravens (8-7) (8-7) Chargers (8-7) Raiders (7-7) (7-7) Dolphins (7-7) (7-7) Broncos (7-7) (7-7) Browns (7-8) The Chargersâ loss at Houston dropped their conference record to 5-5. Though they could still close the weekend with the second-best record in the AFC West, that conference record is a drag. Cleveland is just hanging on, granted a reprieve by the Chargersâ loss. Three AFC teams have been eliminated â" the Jets (3-11), the Texans (3-11) and the Jaguars (2-12). With their 24-22 win over the Browns on Saturday, they have a 1½-game lead over every other team in the hunt for the NFCâs No. 1 seed. And their 8-2 record in conference games is the second best in the NFC, behind only the Cowboys (8-1). Remaining schedule: vs. MIN, at DET Cowboys On Thursday night, Dallas became the second NFL team to qualify for a playoff berth by virtue of San Franciscoâs loss at Tennessee. The Cowboys can win the NFC East by beating Washington on Sunday night. The Cowboysâ 8-1 conference record gives them a chance to overtake the Packers for the No. 1 seed if Dallas wins out and Green Bay drops one game, which would leave the teams with identical 17-game records. Even if that canât happen, a Week 17 home win against the Cardinals could be critical in determin
