Matthew McConaughey finally declares he’s not running for Texas governor

After over a year of speculation Hollywood star Matthew McConaughey confirmed he will not be running to become the next governor of Texas. The 52-year-old has spent the last year dodging questions from journalists who have probed him on whether he wants to lead his home state. “As a simple kid born in the little town of Uvalde Texas it never occurred to me that I would one day be considered for political leadership,” he told his millions of followers in a video released on social media site Instagram. “It is a humbling and inspiring path to ponder . “It is also a path I am choosing not to take at this moment.” The Oscar award winner has never publicly declared whether he would have run as a Republican, Democrat or Independent.
