Canada pulls ahead in vaccinations as US sees alarming COVID-19 resurgence

The United States is seeing a dangerous resurgence of COVID-19 across all 50 states, as infections and hospitalizations surge mostly among American who have not had a vaccine. Cases have tripled over the past three weeks, especially in states that have below-average vaccination rates. The rise comes as the more transmissible Delta variant spreads throughout the country, which has seen its full-vaccination rates stall despite its really success. Even Canada, which lagged early on during its vaccination campaign, has vaccinated 70 per cent of its population with at least one dose, while only 55 per cent Americans have done so.
